pride exhibition opening | lines, bumps, & curves by Miguel Luis Calayan

  • Cloud BV 276 Prinsengracht Amsterdam, NH, 1016 HJ Netherlands (map)

Join us for the opening event of Miguel Luis Calayan's solo exhibition on the 25th of July from 6.30- 9.30 pm during the Amsterdam Pride

This exhibit is an exploration of our different anatomies and the ways they embody identity. It’s about the meanings we assign to the markings and contours of our bodies. What stories do we tell through scars? What about muscles? Or tattoos? How does the perception of one’s breasts affect their idea of gender?

These photos also dive into how the body gives an opportunity to declare one’s identity and regain agency. It’s not about maintaining certain body parts and certain aesthetics; it’s about maintaining control over the stories that we both tell and embody. Their bodies are maps. It’s full of bumps and curves, but they get to draw the lines.

The exhibition will be on view from the 23rd of July until the 4th of August, during Amsterdam Pride Week at Cloud.

Join us for the exhibition opening on the 25th of July from 6 - 9 pm.
