Lecture by mycologist Prof. Dr. Danny Haelewaters from Ghent University on understudied fungi and their importance in biodiversity, conservation and ecological health
Danny Healewatares will take you on an exploration of understudied fungi and their importance for biodiversity and ecological health. While fungi make up around 20% of eukaryotic life on Earth, their diversity and ecological importance remain largely over-looked, with over 90% of species still waiting to be introduced. You will gain insights into these fungi species and their habitats, their biodiversity and conservation, while also having the opportunity for hands-on learning through microscope work and drawings.
